2008 was a banner year for Lucas Grabeel as he shined in High School Musical, The Adventures of Food Boy and even had a part in College Road Trip acting with fellow Disney stars Raven-Symone and Brenda Song.  These days the charismatic actor is testing out new roles that push limits such as the acclaimed short The Real Son.

Brent Geisler has had the privilege and experience to work with some of Hollywood’s finest through his years as an assistant director.  He has been nominated three times for Directors Guild awards and is in the process of developing two major motion pictures.  Brent’s new movie Dadnapped is set to come out this year starring Emily Osment, Jason Earles, Moises Arias and Jennifer Stone.

Kelly King began working in the business as a PA and soon met Lucas Grabeel on the set of Halloweentown High.  The two hit it off immediately and soon worked together on High School Musical 2 prompting them to reconnect and recollaborate.  King currently edits, writes, and directs for 14341 Productions.

High School Musical star Lucas Grabeel has teamed up with some of Hollywood’s talented artists to create 14341 Productions.  The goal of 14341 is to create meaningful entertainment that breaks rules and pushes the limits and so far they have had much success.  PopStar spoke with Brent, Kelly and Lucas about 14341, their success at Sundance, and their upcoming projects for the new and promising production company.

PopStar:  Does 14241 have any meaning?

14341 Productions:  A little awhile ago, before the madness with High School Musical, I stayed in this apartment with that address.  My friends and I would make a lot of song and movie there; so it was a place of creation.

PopStar:  How did the three of you all meet and begin 14341 Productions?

14341 Productions:  The three of us have been together a lot but there are more people that are involved with 14341, obviously, you cannot just do it with three people.  We all met doing different films and we decided that it was time to start making stuff together!

PopStar:  I read that you premiered your latest short Chuckle Boy at Sundance a few weeks ago.  How did it go?

14341 Productions:  It was great and was very well received.  We got a lot of laughs and the screening got invited to open for another film.

PopStar:  What film did it open for?

14341 Productions:  It opened for a slamdance film after being shown at our showcase.

PopStar:  Can you tell us what Chuckle Boy is about?

14341 Productions:  It is about this actor who is at the end of his rope.  He is premadonna and jerk onset and one day he goes home and finds his twin alien waiting for him.

PopStar: Do you think that you will put it up on your website?

14341 Productions:  The director lives in Barcelona, Spain so we have to communicate with him and see how he wants to put it out there.

PopStar:  I have read that you guys are creating some pilots and scripts.  Can you tell us about something you are currently working on?

14341 Productions:  We have been working on a pilot called Beauregard, about a giant bunny rabbit living with a family and we are in the post production part of it.  We have more ideas than we can count so we have made a go to list.

PopStar:  Can you define your production company style?

14341 Productions:  The only true line between through all our projects is cheap!  We haven’t really spent any money, it’s a beautiful thing.  We have been able to [achieve] high production value without spending a lot of money which is really exciting.

PopStar:  The music takes center stage in many of your shorts.  For example, in The Real Son, you feel connected with the music; was this on purpose?

14341 Productions:  Music is a big part of all of our lives and I think they invade our films in the way that music is a character rather than just background.  It really sets the mood and the tone, the music gives you more information about the character.

PopStar:  Do you have plan on putting more shorts on your website?

14341 Productions:  Totally!  We are just in the process of making a website that will be completely versatile for everyone to come and check out.  We will be putting up our shorts and music videos.

PopStar:  Speaking of music videos.  Lucas, can you tell us about Get Your Ass On?

14341 Productions:  Yes, that was our first project.  I was shooting another film in Provo, Utah called The Adventures of Food Boy.  So on our day off we shot the video.

PopStar:  This spring we will see Get Your Ass On?

14341 Productions: Yes!

PopStar:  Do you have any other projects that you are working on?

14341 Productions:  We just finished shooting this short in Utah when we were driving up to Sundance and we had this idea for a short and we just put it together in the past week.  We watched the footage last night and we are really excited about it.

PopStar:  What is the short about?

14341 Productions:  It has a working title, Survivor One and it’s a post apocalyptic one man journey.

PopStar:  Lucas, do you care to comment on the rumors that you will be playing Alec in New Moon?

14341 Productions:  Yeah, my girlfriend told me that the other day.  I think that is funny, none of that is actually true.  I have not auditioned and have not been approached.

Guilty Pleasure ^[1] is the second studio album by American pop singer and actress Ashley Tisdale set to be released in June 16, 2009^[2] in the United States via Warner Bros. Records. ^[3] The lead single from the album is the song “It’s Alright, It’s OK“, relesased April 14, 2009.^[4]

In an April 2008 interview with perra, she stated that she recorded a couple of songs for her next album and after shooting High School Musical 3 she would focus her attention on her second album.^[5] Later the year, she announced album would have “more rock and edgier” music.^[6][7] Tommy Page stated in his official website that he was working on Tisdale’s second album. ^[8] Tisdale describes this album as being “sexier” than the previous album.^[9]

I’ve been working on the second album for a year, and it’s something completely different from the first album. Doing the first album is a lot of learning about yourself — I had to get to know what I like, even though I knew I wanted to do something pop and R&B. I went for more of a rock sound. I’m 23 now, so I’m growing up, and I wanted something more mature and edgier. I’m starting to show a side of myself that people don’t know.

Tisdale stated the track “Hot Mess” is “about hanging out with a motorcycle bad boy that makes life more interesting” and the track “How Do You Love Someone?” is “about a girl who deals with the split of her parents”.^[9] The album is indeed an authentic reflection of a girl growing up and speaking her mind on songs like the first single “It’s Alright, It’s OK“.^[11] Tisdale co-wrote several tracks on this album, including “Acting Out”, “Overrated”, and two ballads “Me Without You” and “What If”, which she co-wrote with Kara DioGuardi.

On April 13, 2009 Tisdale’s official website also confirmed there would be a limited edition of the album with extra bonus tracks, full lyrics for all the songs and 3 double-sided posters included in a glossy photo book. The limited edition is said to only be from Warner Bros. Records, Ashley Tisdale’s label.^[12]

Tisdale also embarked on a European promo tour in March 2009, in which she visited the United Kingdom,^[13] France^[14] and Germany^[15] to promote the album. On April 14, 2009, Tisdale premiered “It’s Alright, It’s OK” on On Air with Ryan Seacrest of KIIS-FM,^[16] later the same day she was on the air on Radio Disney for the debut of her first single.^[17] She also confirmed in the same interview with Ryan Seacrest, plans to start a tour for United States and Canada in August 2009 with her band.^[18]

The song was released as the album’s lead single on April 14, 2009 in the United States in both airplay and digital formats.^[16] The song is a spunky break-up song anthem about being single and in control of your life for the first time.— “I love break-up songs,” Tisdale admits during the press release of the single. ^[11] She described the song as a message she wanted to get across the other people. ^[21] The song was written by Joacim Persson, Niclas Molinder and produced by Swedish music production team Twin.^[21] The music video premiered on MySpace on April 21.^[21]

Ashley recently did a interview for Seventeen magazine, as she started to release more information about her upcoming album, “Guilty Pleasure“. Miss Tisdale has mentioned that a song titled, ‘What If‘ will be featured on the album. Interestingly enough, the song was written by the newest addition to the judging table on American Idol, Kara DioGuardi, who also wrote several songs for various different American Idol Alums, like Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood and David Cook. Ashley Tisdale stopped by Seventeen to chat about her new album, Guilty Pleasure (slated for a June 16 release), and her new rocker-chic brown hair! Here are the highlights.

17: How are you liking your new hair color?
Ashley Tisdale: I love it! This is my original hair color, and with my new album coming out and dying my hair back to dark, I feel like it’s bringing this edgier side out in me. I want to do this grungy kind of rocker look.

17: Do you have favorite products that you use in your hair?
AT: I use Kérastase Oléo-Relax when I get out of the shower. It saves my hair. Actually, I’ve been doing this Brazilian treatment to my hair. It’s a lifesaver, I don’t even use a straightener anymore. The Brazilian blow-dry defrizzes your hair, whereas the blonde bleach would damage my hair. The Brazilian blowout is crazy; it just stays in my hair.

17: Are you inspired by any other celebs or musicians as far as your look goes?
AT: My look is a very individual look. I love Pink, but I don’t really dress like Pink. The music really inspired me to be this way. Music and fashion inspire each other.

17: Let’s talk about the video for your new single, “It’s Alright, It’s OK.” What’s the concept for the video?
AT: Adam Gregory from 90210 plays my ex-boyfriend who cheats on me. In the beginning of the video, you see him back out of his driveway, and then I knock over a gnome and it’s the hideaway key to his house. I have a party at his house and we are destroying everything, and there’s all these Brazilian male models who I’m taking pictures with and stuff, and leaving them around the house. Then me and my band are in the pool on top of the water, performing. The song is about moving on and being strong in that situation. Making the video was really fun

17: What’s your style like in the video?
AT: During the performance part I’m in white jeans that are kind of like destroyed, with these black high boots, this gray destroyed Alternative Apparel shirt, and suspenders. I have like five different outfits in the video.

17: Do you have another favorite song on the album?
AT: I wrote a song with Kara DioGuardi called “What If” and it’s a really beautiful song. It’s kind of like a rock ballad. There’s a lot of guitars and drums in it. There’s these lyrics like, “What if I need you, would you try to save me.” Kind of like when you’re in a fight, and the other person is trying to quit on you, and you’re trying to save it, and keep it alive. It’s a really beautiful song.

17: What do you and your friends do for fun on the weekends when you’re not working?
AT: We like to go to dinner and movies. Some of us have a movie theater, so we will go watch movies there at home. We like to chill. We are always so busy, so we like to relax. Go shopping, get our nails done.
